DIY Hooded Tunic Sew-Along w/ Mimi G

Hi Darlings, I cant tell you how much I love this tunic! I could live in it everyday. It's so comfy to wear and can be styled with jeans, leggings or just as a dress.

When I made and wore this on my blog not long ago it was a huge hit and I got a ton of questions on what modifications I made to the pattern. In this sew-along I show you exactly what I did and how simple it is. I made the first one in a NAVY DOUBLE KNIT and wore it with Jeans.

This would be great in a SWEATER KNIT fabric too. Here are some additional fabric options: HERE, HERE, HERE / Pattern: HERE

DIY Denim Skirt Sew Along + Distressing Video

Hi Darlings, Todays sew along is for a great, must have in your wardrobe, fall ready denim skirt.
I chose a basic pattern that doesn't speak much but I knew with some Mimi G flare we could make that puppy sing.

I went with McCall 6361 View D and a great Stretch Denim found HERE. I also would love to make this skirt in THIS camouflage print and THIS floral. This skirt will work with any stretch denim fabric in THIS section.

Runway To Everyday: Fall Oversized Knits

Hi Darlings!

It's always so much fun for me to take runway pieces that I love and translate them into my everyday wardrobe. This fall/winter one of my favorite trends is the oversized knits. They were everywhere this year and I couldn't wait to get my hands on some cool knit fabric. I decided to show you some of my favorite oversized knit looks and how you can use commercial patterns to achieve a similar look.

The secret to oversized knits if you are a little unsure is to keep the rest of your look slim...meaning, wear leggings or skinny jeans and tanks or tees to balance the look. It can be a bit much if adding too many layers to an already oversized look so make sure to get your proportions right. I also love an oversized knit with a wide leg pant and simple jewelry. I truly believe that less is more sometimes.

These oversized coats, jackets and ponchos made a splash on the runway and I am so following suit!
The jacket I made below is from New Look # 6249 I loved the look of View A so I added 3.5" to the length and cut one size larger to give me that oversized look. I used a great textured knit in white which is unfortunately sold out, but I listed some great options HERE, HERE and HERE. Don't forget to use my code "MIMI10" for 10% off your purchase.

I have also been a huge fan of sweaters and anything that is comfy and chic to wear so of course this knit trend is right up my alley. I have so many ideas for this fall that my brain is going nuts! I just keep pinning to my pinterest boards, lol!

This great sweater is an alteration of New Look 6314 View A.
  • I measured down to 1" above my navel and created a slight curve in the front pattern piece.
  • I used the bottom band only on the front.
  • I extended the back pattern piece by 5" then continued sewing it as indicated in the pattern instructions.
  • I created  the wide turtle neck which by measuring the neck opening, cutting a piece of fabric the width of the neckline by 14".
  • When the turtle neck is sewn together creating a tube you then fold it over to attach it to the neckline and you end up with an 7" tall turtleneck.
HERE, HERE and HERE are some great sweater knits including the Grey Chevron one above.
